FAQ — TriPeak triathlon coaching software
How the free trial works, which watches and platforms sync, what happens to a session once it arrives, how Claude and ChatGPT connect, and what it costs.
Getting started
Who is TriPeak for?
Two groups. Triathlon coaches who plan for a roster and want to spend their time on decisions, not spreadsheets. And self-coached athletes who want the same tooling a coach has, with Claude or ChatGPT doing the drafting.
How does the free trial work?
Sign up and you get 30 days with everything unlocked and room for up to ten athletes. No credit card is needed to start. When the trial ends you pick a plan; your data stays in place either way.
Do I need a coach to use it?
No. The Self-coached plan gives one athlete the whole coach toolset: plan, load chart, race outlook, Garmin grading and the AI connection. Many athletes start here and later invite a coach.
Can I try it without creating an account?
Yes. The landing page has a sample coach view and a sample athlete portal loaded with demo data. Nothing you do there is saved.
AI, Claude and ChatGPT
What does "AI coaching" actually mean here?
TriPeak runs an MCP server, the open protocol Claude and ChatGPT use to work with external tools. Once connected, the assistant can read your plan, load, race outlook and Garmin sessions, and it can write workouts back. You talk to the assistant you already use. TriPeak gives it your numbers.
Will the AI change my plan without asking?
No. Sessions created by the AI for a coached athlete arrive as proposals. They are invisible to the athlete and excluded from the load model until the coach accepts them, one by one or all at once. Self-coached athletes see proposals in their own calendar and approve them the same way.
Which assistants are supported?
Claude (web, desktop and mobile via Connectors) and ChatGPT, plus developer tools that speak the same protocol, such as Gemini CLI, VS Code and Cursor. TriPeak runs a standard MCP server over HTTP, so any client that supports remote MCP works — you copy one personal link from the user menu and paste it in. Assistants add support at their own pace: if yours takes a remote MCP URL, it works today.
Do I need my own API key?
No. You use your existing Claude or ChatGPT subscription. TriPeak does not charge for AI usage on top of the plan price.
What can the assistant see and do?
For a coach: list athletes, read and write plans, add goal races, run the weekly review, grade a session against its prescribed intervals and read the raw Garmin streams. For an athlete: the same for their own data only, plus logging how a session felt. Each link is scoped to one person and can be revoked.
Training science and data
How is training load calculated?
Every workout carries a Training Stress Score (TSS) derived from duration and intensity relative to your thresholds: FTP for the bike, CSS for the swim, threshold pace and LTHR for the run. Fitness (CTL), fatigue (ATL) and form (TSB) follow the Banister impulse-response model with 42 and 7 day constants.
Which watches and platforms can I bring data in from?
Garmin and Wahoo connect directly, and so does Intervals.icu — which covers Polar, COROS, Suunto, Zwift and an Apple Watch through HealthFit in one connection, original files included. You authorise once and completed activities arrive nightly. Whatever the device, you can also drop a .fit, .tcx or .gpx file straight onto the plan — every watch and platform exports one, so nothing depends on us having built that integration. Polar and COROS are on the way. Strava is deliberately not supported: their API terms only allow an app to show athletes their own data, which rules out a coach seeing it.
What happens to a session once it arrives?
Completed activities are matched to planned sessions, actual TSS replaces planned, and the interval structure is compared against the recorded power, pace and heart-rate streams to produce an execution grade. Anything that matches nothing is kept as an extra session rather than silently inflating compliance. Coaches see a nightly sync for every linked athlete.
What is the race outlook?
A projection of your fitness and form to race morning, using the sessions currently in the plan. It tells you whether you will land in the form window that usually produces a good race, and what has to change if not. The race card adds per-leg pacing targets from your thresholds and a predicted finish.
Will it tell me when my thresholds are stale?
Yes. The threshold audit looks at completed sessions for evidence that FTP, CSS, run pace or LTHR have moved, and suggests a new value. It never applies the change itself.
Where is my data stored, and can I leave?
Plans and profiles live in a Postgres database on Supabase. Garmin credentials are stored encrypted (AES-256), never in plain text. Deleting your account deletes the data, and you can ask for a full export of your workouts at any time.
Pricing and billing
What does it cost?
Self-coached: CHF 10 per month for one athlete. Coaches: CHF 30 per month for up to 5 athletes, CHF 50 per month for up to 10, or CHF 80 per month for an unlimited roster. Every plan includes every feature. The only difference is how many athletes you can coach.
What if I coach more than 10 athletes?
The Unlimited plan is CHF 80 per month with no athlete cap. For a federation or a team of coaches sharing one roster, write to hello@tripeak.app.
Does my athlete pay too?
No. A coach plan covers the athletes on it. Athletes get their portal, morning emails and their own AI link at no charge.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from Plan & billing in your account menu. The plan runs to the end of the paid month and does not renew.
Is there a yearly plan or a student discount?
Not yet. Monthly only for now, so nobody is locked in while the product is young.
For coaches
How do athletes get access to their plan?
You send them one link. They sign in with it once, the plan binds to their account, and from then on the portal is simply theirs: today's session, the week, race countdown and thresholds. They can mark sessions done, leave feedback and connect their own Garmin. There is nothing for you to set up per athlete, and the link stops working as a way in once it has been claimed — so a forwarded link is not a back door into their training.
What is the coach cockpit?
A roster sorted by who needs attention. Every athlete gets flags such as a ramp rate that is too steep, a form value that is too deep, a race that is off track or thresholds that have not been tested. On Sunday evening the same view arrives as an email digest.
Can the AI plan the week for me?
Yes, inside the rails you set. The weekly review hands the assistant last week's numbers, the season phase and the weekly TSS envelope. It drafts next week as proposals. You accept, edit or discard.
